There are many different types of viruses that can infect your computer most rely on scaring the user into purchasing a licenece (As above) others record keystrokes when the user is accessing certain websites (Banking, shopping etc.) others just cause disruption.

 

The best way to avoid getting them is to ensure you are using Anti Virus software such as Norton, Mcafee, AVG or Microsoft Security Essentials and that they are updated with the latest definitions. There are also other free Anti Virus programs but these are not always as great as we are led to believe.

 

Always do a full scan after your anti virus has been updated and also ensure that any vaults that are created by anti virus software are emptied regularily

 

If you become infected with any type of virus the best thing to do is to give us a call and we can offer some help in avoiding the virus causing too much damage however if your computer is seriously infected then you may end up losing important documents, pictures or music files.
