Personal Computers

Laptops
The most common problems with laptops tend to be screen damage (including hinges), Power issues and liquid ingress although as above software corruption and viruses can also cause a laptop to fail.
Laptop screens are very easily broken especially if the laptop is dropped or grabbed with excessive pressure on the screen itself but are quite easily replaced although not the least expensive component to be replaced.
If you are having intermittent power problems then you may have a problem with your power supply or the power socket on your laptop may ba at fault however if the laptop is not showing any signs of life and the power jack and power supply are good then the problem may be due to a combination of other hardware faults.
Liquid ingress can cause many problems and depending on the severity of the spill and the actions taken thereafter can have an effect on the severity of the fault which range from keyboard issues through to complete failure of the laptop.
If you spill liquid onto a laptop immediately disconnect the power and remove the battery, the laptop should then be left for a few days in a warm well ventilated room to dry out. The quicker these actions are taken the less damage could be caused.
